CHOOSING GRATITUDE

A few nights ago as we were falling asleep, (back to back, of course because #reallife, we like our space) I turned over and I whispered to Jake,

"If this right here, is as good as life gets, I could be happy forever."

And I mean that in every way possible.

Our lives are for sure not anything glamorous--we're living in a small town in Wisconsin on a third floor apartment (with no elevator), both working toward career goals that we haven't quite met yet but if this is as good as it's gets and as long as I've got this guy by my side, then I've got all I'll ever need.

I don't want to pretend that some days I don't wish for more--because I do. But at the end of the day, when I really put things into perspective, I realize that we've got it pretty good after all.

Choosing to always be grateful for what I have is not something that I have fully conquered yet but it's a journey that I am on and one that I wanted to share.  It's okay to want more, sometimes, but it's not okay if we cannot come to a place of contentment with what we already have. And this is something that I have to remind myself of daily. Thankfully, we have a God who is full of grace.

“I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.”
— Philippians 4:12-13 // The Message

And on that note, I'm headed to our *average* couch, to watch Netflix off of our *small* TV but I'll be curled up in a warm blanket and I've got my best friend next to me (and a glass of wine) so I'm as happy as can be.

Happy weekend, friends!
